Recently, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, CNGR and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focusing on the development of advanced energy materials, industry-university-research cooperation, and joint talent cultivation. This marks a valuable exploration of joint innovation between a domestic new energy enterprise investing in Indonesia and a top Indonesian university, and an important aspect of high-quality collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to promote technological innovation and active scientific research cooperation.

As a follow-up to the UGM delegation's visit to CNGR's Qinzhou and Ningxiang sites in May this year, this cooperation aims to further enhance the technological innovation capabilities of industrial park projects in Indonesia and strengthen the role of both parties in national strategic projects.

Under the MOU, the two parties will collaborate in three main areas: first, research and development cooperation in advanced energy materials and processing; second, strengthening science, technology, and research-based innovation programs to promote cooperation within their respective fields, particularly fostering collaboration between Indonesia's academia and industry, with a focus on supporting and funding experimental R&D projects; third, jointly conducting research project exchanges, industrial training, academic visits, guest lectures, etc., in a bid to contribute positively to the industrial development, technological innovation, and the cultivation of technical talents in both China and Indonesia, and to serve the BRI initiative.

It is reported that Universitas Gadjah Mada, located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is a public Ivy League research university founded in 1949. As the oldest higher education institution in Indonesia and one of the most renowned comprehensive public universities, it ranks 263rd globally in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and second in Indonesia. With 20 faculties and 23 research centers, it is also the alma mater of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The friendship between China and Indonesia is deep-rooted, with economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges, and scientific and technological cooperation playing crucial roles in bilateral relations. As the BRI embarks on its next golden decade and amidst the "China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges" in 2024, the signing between CNGR and Universitas Gadjah Mada creates more opportunities for friendly exchanges, university-enterprise cooperation, and industry-university-research collaboration between China and Indonesia. It will jointly promote technological innovation on both sides, provide a platform for nurturing more scientific and technological talents with an international perspective, and inject new vitality into the friendship between China and Indonesia.
